Every Room Needs Some Wall Decal Magic.

It seems as if kids bedroom transformations have become the latest ‘thing’ to do, and yes, I jumped onto that bandwagon a couple months back when my son turned two. I decided that it was time to transform his baby nursery into his big boy bedroom, and I had such fun working with local companies to do just that!

One of the companies that I worked with, was Clever Little Monkey. Clever Little Monkey is home to many wonderful brands, however, their very own House Brand is called ‘Bunni’.  Bunni is home to the trendiest rugs, clocks, scatters, mobiles, bedding, teepees and wall decals for babies and kids.

I feel that every kids bedroom needs a wall decal! The beauty of these is that it is an incredibly easy task for every parent – for those of us who may not be so DIY savvy! If you were to close your eyes, and pick the perfect wall decal design for your little ones bedroom, what would it be?

Golden hearts? Arrows? Hot Air Balloons, or perhaps pretty little ice lollies? What about pineapples or even monochrome cactus? A set of eyelashes for your little girls bedroom, or maybe some simple mountains or trees if you have a little adventurer on your hands. There is something for every personality! These decals are most certainly a fantastic product to set their imaginations free!

Now, you can simply peel & stick, and magic! The work is done, and you can enjoy all the compliments about your ‘hard work’.

Because these decals are so reasonably priced, it means that when (IF) you ever get bored of the theme of your little ones room, you can so easily just remove the wall decals by peeling them off (this takes the power of an adult, so no stress, your little one will NOT be able to remove it), and replacing with a new design! How practical?! Even better, the removal of the wall decal doesn’t remove a single bit of wall paint! It’s like magic.

Kim Von Brandis is the mastermind behind this original, and absolutely gorgeous specialized baby & kids linen and accessory company. Being a mom of two boys, I honestly don’t know where she finds the time to constantly be thinking up new ideas and to hand make each order and product of hers to the exquisite quality that she does.

Squiggle & Squeak is a brand that I’ve always followed quietly behind. I’ve always dreamed about having even just one thing in my sons bedroom from their collection – and my dreams finally came true!

Over the past few months, Kim has fallen into a very special place in my heart. Her creativity and originality captivates me and I find myself often heading over to her facebook page to see if she’s done anymore experimenting.. HAPPY NEWS – she has! Getting To Know: La Fede

GETTING TO KNOW: La Fede

Chantelle is a wife, mother and maker. She is an indie designer and maker based in Centurion. She handcrafts a collection of character bears and soft toy animals. Creativity runs in her family, so she always had a dream of being in a creative field. Chantelles’ career path, however, followed another road, which found her in finance and management for a decade. Her career in finance ended when she was retrenched in 2014. She spent a daunting period of time on the job-seekers scene but was challenged in Faith to follow her distant dream and start La Fede. La Fede has evolved from an all round kids brand (clothing, accessories, toys) to a specialised heirloom toy range.

Chantelle mentions that she feels so blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. Her party of 4 went through a trying two years financially, but they are blessed, closer than ever and stronger for it. La Fede truly is what the name means, “Faith’. She says that it may sound strange, but this testimony is what motivates her, knowing that the success story of La Fede will impact other lives and businesses.
Her entire business was built on Trust and Faith, Chantelle started La Fede with nothing, out of nothing except a dream, a small sewing machine, a ton of faith, and a husband who supported her dream even in the toughest of times.

Chantelle’s passion is radiant in every single one of her products. She handmakes the with all of the love in the world. The quality of her character bears are phenomenal, and each has their own personality. Chantelle is mommy to two gorgeous kids. I love seeing her Instagram posts of their own designs for her business. Just too precious! La Fede is going to stand out in Olly’s big boy bedroom phenomenally, and I cannot wait to share more photos with you soon!

Big Boy Bedroom Collaboration

With only ONE week left until the styled shoot of Olly’s BIG BOY BEDROOM, I thought that now is a better time than ever to start introducing you to each of the local companies who have collaborated with me for this incredible project. I have used local companies ONLY – small businesses that are mostly mommy owned and that are unique to us South Africans. Make sure to swing by each day to read up on each of these gorgeous brands; and watch this space for the BIG reveal which will be happening before too long.

Beach Bash.

As promised, we went on an adventure to the beach over the weekend. Of course, we took Olly’s bash box with us! Because, well – what’s an adventure without a box of tricks?

Long story short, the wind picked up and although he had loads of fun exploring the box for the one hundredth and tenth time since it was delivered to our doorstep, I spent more time chasing after the contents blowing down the beach than I did photographing them.

We focused on the poppers and the garlands because the bunting is amazing for decoration (and let’s be honest.. I didn’t want them to get ruined).

We decided to head home to take a few last photos before we all blew away, and the bed was transformed into a (glorious) blue, white, and silver mess.

Leading up to Olly’s birthday was crazy! August always seems to be a month that just flies by in a blur as it is so incredibly busy. So, not having to worry about hunting down party accessories and decor was literally a dream come true. It saved my sanity to be blunt!

I’m one of those people who really take note of the costs of things. For instance driving around from shopping mall to shopping mall in search of ONE perfect bunting that will make the world of difference is going to cost you petrol money, and the cost of the item, PLUS the cost of the numerous cups of takeaway coffee you’re bound to buy while you’re out, PLUS all of the extra unnecessary purchases you make in hope to get your toddler to stop moaning so you can ‘get out of here as quickly as possible’. (Yes, I just went there.)

That being said, why not have a professional, creative individual put together the PERFECT party box for your little one? They do it in stages, asking you what theme you’d like, colours, etc and the put together a divine mood board for you to make sure that the magic they’ve already made is the magic you’re envisioning. Then they put it all together, and Voila! It’s on your doorstep, begging to be explored! It’s the new future of birthday decor! (Also wedding, engagement parties, baby showers – just sayin’) It’s also totally original to you.

I had the most incredible experience with the ladies from Bash Paperie. Although they are in Durban and myself in Cape Town, there were no difficulties due to that. And, they courier countrywide! So, no excuses mama’s!
